We Will Call Him George

In sixth grade our school put on the Sound of Music. (We somehow managed to skip over the genocide part?) On first read through of the script, one of the kids read the Captain Von Trapp’s first name as “George.” Not the more authentically Austrian “Georg.” It may have been a typo in the script, but we called him George through out the rest of rehearsals and straight on through into performance.
I don’t think I realized we had his name wrong until ten years later.
